How to Repair Windows in 6 Easy Steps. Using a computer is like being in a marriage. You always have to keep the relationship going despite all the glitches that are evident on the scene everyday. So, what do you do when your Windows computer becomes a pain? How do you repair windows?
Luckily, Vista comes with a diagnostic tool that helps you to virtually automate the repair process if you are unable to start your PC normally. This tool is known as “Windows Startup Repair”. Let’s see how it works. Below, I have outlined for you 6 easy steps to getting it up and running again.
Go to your BIOS settings and configure your computer to boot from the Windows Vista DVD.
Next, you should insert the CD/DVD into the drive. A message will come up after the above settings asking you to “press any key to boot from DVD”. Once you hit any key, it will load automatically.
The first screen will pop up in a moment. Select the right options for language, time, currency, input method and others. You should then click on the option that says “Repair Your Computer”.
The “System Recovery Options” dialog box will appear next. Choose the “Windows Vista Installation” option and click on the “Next” button.
Select “Startup Repair” from the next list of options that appear. This will begin the automatic repair process. Please, do note that it is normal that your computer reboots occasionally during this process. So, don’t worry if it happens.
Once the above process completes, the “System Restore” screen will appear. Now, if you believe that your PC may have had performance problems because of a recent program that you installed or removed from the system or some other similar changes, then you should opt for the “System Restore” option and select an appropriate restore point to revert your computer to. However, if you don’t think this is the problem and the process above was not able to fix your computer, you should select to have information about the problem sent to Microsoft or just decline it, if you don’t want to. If the above Windows Repair process did not identify and help you fix the problem, you may want to resort to any of the more advanced repair features like “System Restore”, Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool or Windows Complete PC Restore. You should however, try and know the implications of doing these operations. Who is a computer junkie and freely shares some of his best tips for various options to repair your Windows PC
